A review on bi/polymetallic catalysts for steam methane reforming

چکیده
Blue hydrogen production by steam methane reforming (SMR) with carbon capture is far the most commercialised method, and addition of a simultaneous in-situ CO2 adsorption process, sorption-enhanced (SESMR) can further decrease cost H2 production. Ni-based catalysts have been extensively used for SMR because their excellent activity relatively low price, but deposition, sulphation, sintering lead to catalyst deactivation. One effective solution introduce additional metal element(s) improve overall performance. This review summarizes recent developments on bi/polymetallic SMR, including promoted nickel-based other transition metal-based materials. The mainly focuses experimental studies, also includes results from simulations evaluate synergistic effects selected metals an atomic point view. An outlook provided future development catalysts.

Effect of Pt on Zn-Free Cu-Al Catalysts for Methanol Steam Reforming to Produce Hydrogen
Steam reforming of methanol can be considered as an attractive reaction aiming at hydrogen production for PEM fuel cells. Although Cu/Al-contained catalysts are considerably evaluated in this reaction, further evaluation is essential to evaluate the impact of some promoters like Pt in order to find a comprehensively optimized catalyst. Pt promoter is employed with different methods in this ...

A membrane reactor is a reaction system that provides higher productivity and lower separation cost in chemical reaction processes. In this paper, packed bed catalytic membrane reactor with palladium membrane for methane steam reforming was analyzed both experimentally and numerically. The numerical model consists of a full set of partial differential equations derived from conservation of mass...
متن کاملStepwise methane steam reforming: a route to CO-free hydrogen
A method for the production of clean hydrogen is demonstrated. The process consists of two steps involving the decomposition of methane to CO-free hydrogen and surface carbon in the first step followed by steam gasification of this surface carbon in the second step. This process can be operated in cycles and could be an excellent hydrogen source for fuel cells and other devices or processes req...
متن کاملCFD modeling and control of a steam methane reforming reactor
This work initially focuses on developing a computational fluid dynamics (CFD) model of an industrialscale steam methane reforming reactor (reforming tube) used to produce hydrogen. Subsequently, we design and evaluate three different feedback control schemes to drive the area-weighted average hydrogen mole fraction measured at the reforming tube outlet ( x̄H outlet 2 ) to a desired set-point va...
متن کاملSimulation of a Solid Oxide Fuel Cell with External Steam Methane Reforming and Bypass
Fuel flexibility is a significant advantage of solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs) and can be attributed to their high operating temperature. The eligibility of a combined heat and power (CHP) system has been investigated as a new power generation methode, in this study. Natural gas fueled SOFC power systems via methane steam reforming (MSR) yield electrical conversion efficiencies exceeding 50% and...
